Friday Favorites

It's FINALLY Friday, and I don't know about y'all, but I could really use this three day weekend we have coming up. It has been a heck of a week, and I'm ready to spend three days at home with my favorite people! But before we go full steam into the weekend, I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for some Friday Favorites!

ONE

I'm not sure how, but somehow I missed this quirky little show while it was on the air. Thankfully, Netflix has all the seasons right now, and Johnathon and I have been loving it. Essentially, Chuck is a nerdy computer geek who gets encoded with a bunch of spy secrets, and thus needs protection from a hottie CIA agent (naturally) and a sarcastic, no nonsense NSA agent. This show was created by the same guy who did The O.C., and Chuck reminds me of Seth 2.0. We are on the second season now, and totally hooked!

TWO

This girl's hair. Out. Of. Control. Over the last couple of months, Hadley's hair has started to come in, except...not on top. The back of her head is covered in this beautiful, long, slightly wavy hair. The top is still rocking duck fluff. The problem is this: the back of her hair is dying to be put in a little pony tail, but the top of her hair is still too short. The result? A Marshallese ponytail. Those of you stateside more commonly refer to it as a rat-tail. Or mullet.

Do you see the tail???!!

Kinda blurry but you get the idea

Profile action...she's still adorable in my book, even with a mullet!!

No amount of bow can hide the fact that Hadley has this long tail of hair growing at a much faster rate than the rest of her hair. I waver between wanting to trim it, and also thinking it's hilarious. For now, the rat-tail is staying , but I am accepting all forms of styling suggestions!

THREE

Baby shoes. Let's talk about 'em. My adorable island baby turns 1 in less than a month (hold me), and I feel like it's time that she starts wearing shoes. I really like Natives because they are made of the same kind of material as Crocs, but they are way cuter! I feel like these will work really well on the island and seem durable and breathable, but I worry that they might be kind of chunky and hard for Hadley to crawl/master walking in. The other pair I'm looking at are Robeez. I've been recommended these by several people as great shoes for babies who are learning to walk. I've also been told they are hard for babies to pull off which is critical in this house. The only thing is that they are leather/suede, and that just sounds like a bad combination for a tropical island. If any moms out there have baby shoe recommendations, or opinions on the shoes I'm looking at I would love to hear them!

FOUR

Hadley's favorite thing..exploring sand!

We decided to do a little exploring last weekend, so we headed out to the ocean side of the island to explore the tide pools at low tide. Hadley was VERY interested in the sand, and various critters that were out an about. It's so fun to explore with her now that she is much more aware, and curious of the world around her. Hadley decided to end her exploration like all great explorers do...by blowing raspberries at her Sherpa:

FIVE

Please excuse my exceptional pajama/bathroom selfie

These jammies are the bomb! I got this pair of PJ Salvage pajamas for Christmas and have been living in them ever since. They are so soft, warm, and don't shrink after you wash them! I literally turn down our thermostat so that I can wear them inside, even though its 80 degrees outside! My pair are sold out, but Nordstroms has a bunch of other fun prints here.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!! If you are looking for the McClellan's this weekend we will be at the beach!

  1. I liked the Natives for my older son, but I wouldn't buy them for my younger. They are hard to get on and off when feet are sweaty. They do get dirty, but clean up well with a magic eraser. I did love croc's better only because the back makes them easier on and off. I love Chuck Tailors for littles! Or just some cute tennis shoes for the parks with lots of mulch.

  2. Aww the rat tail is the cutest! It kind of reminds me of my son - he has his father's hair as a kid, and its mostly straight on top and cuuuurrrly on the sides and back. I love it because it looks a little neater than a kid with all crazy curls, but a few weeks back I had to trim his bangs because he was looking super ratty!

    1. Hehe thank you! I kind of love the rat tail too, but I think I may have to trim her hair too eventually! Your son's hair sounds beautiful!

    1. So cute. I love the hair as is and I especially loves how she expresses herself with a raspberry. So precious. Amie and Katie wore tennis shoes or bare feet- but we didn't live in a giant sandbox. I remember the pediatrician said that it was easier for babies to learn to walk barefooted. So precious!

  4. She is too precious, mullet and all! Love the pj's and I can vouch for natives. That's all we wear around here!
