Friday Finds: Lolli's Shop

When I started thinking about what I wanted to get Hadley for her first Christmas, I kept coming back to something that had a handmade/keepsake quality about it. I remember my sister and I getting these great handmade dolls from family friends when we were little, and I love that we still have them as reminders of our childhoods all these years later. Sadly, I have no skills in the sewing department, so I knew that I was going to have to buy them from a store, so I set of searching for the perfect dolly for Hadley for Christmas. I had looked at several Etsy stores, but nothing was jumping out at me, until I came across this store called Lolli's Shop on Facebook.

The lady who runs Lolli's shop only has a Facebook page, so I was a little nervous initially about how official her store would be and what her turnaround times would look like.  Her page said she would respond within the hour, and that was 100% true!! Since I live overseas, the time difference between Kwaj and the states is pretty significant, but she still got back to me within the hour.

There are lots of pictures on the Lolli's Shop Facebook page of dolls she's made, and you can either pick a doll that you like or select from an album of fabrics she has available. I wanted to kind of mix and match from several dolls I saw pictures of, and she easily accommodated my requests and help me customize the exact doll I wanted.

The store owner told me she works 6-8 weeks out, and I thought her time table was very accurate. Hadley's doll got to us in plenty of time for Christmas which, if you knew how spotty our mail system is out here, you would be impressed by that!

If you want some numbers behind these dolls they are 15-16" high and can accommodate a 7-8 letter monogram (the monogram is included in the price (40$)...yay!!). She also makes a  larger doll that is 20-21" high.You can add custom embellishments if you want like tutu's, and shoes, and you can pick out the hair and eye color of the doll to match your little one!

I honestly wasn't sure if Hadley would be too interested in her doll right away. She is still kind of young and I thought that all her other Christmas toys that made noise, moved, etc would initially distract her from the doll, but I was wrong! Hadley picked up the doll immediately and shoved her face in it! The arms and legs also make very convenient teething options, and I often find Hadley alternating between squeezing/loving on her doll and chewing on its arm or leg! lol

The care and quality that was put into making this doll is very apparent-from the bows in the hair down to the Isaiah 43:1 bible verse sewn into the skirt. :)
