Weekend Recap: Birthdays and Baseball

This album could be titled, "That Time We Watched Netflix in Our Jammies and Didn't Leave the House," but I didn't think that sounded as catchy!

We were so pooped after Jeff's visit, that we had a mandatory R&R weekend, but finished strong with Hadley's birthday!!

Sunday (Saturday stateside) we played around the house then binge watched Chuck on Netflix during Hadley's naps. Hadley has, count them....4 teeth coming in all at once so she has been a little cranky and tired over the last week, and I don't think she minded a low key day to rest up! Johnathon has helped put together a pretty fierce softball team this year, and they had their first batting practice Sunday evening. Hadley and I were ready to get out of the house, so we tagged along to watch and cheer on our favorite guy!

Hadley and I were excited to see Lindsey and Aksel at the practice, and they had fun crawling all over the grass! Hadley even tried to join Johnathon in the outfield!

Funny story. At one point, a foul ball was hit in our general direction, and the guys yelled for us to "DUCK!" It was one of those "no time to think moments," and I'm proud to report super ashamed to tell you that Lindsey and I both covered our own heads and ducked, only to look up after the ball landed several feet away to see both Hadley and Aksel giving us judgmental looks for covering our own heads and not theirs. MOM FAIL. We were super embarrassed and did not miss the look of horror that our husbands and fellow ball players were giving us. I did have a chance at redemption when another foul ball came our way a few minutes later, and I'm happy to report that I threw myself over Hadley in dramatic fashion,  that was probably definitely not necessary. Also, my shielding her little head with my entire body caused her to experience a mild panic attack that took her a solid 5 minutes to recover from. Winning.
Hadley and I tried to finish up the practice like all great athletes...by working on our selfie game. Clearly I have to have a talk with Hadster about looking like she loves it when I hold her...

Can you tell how much she loves being held these days?! maybe she just thought it was  uncool that we matched...or she hadn't fully recovered from the body shielding mentioned above...

We finished the night with our standard bike around the island, and caught a pretty solid sunset from North point.

The next day was Hadley Kate's first birthday, and I alternated the day between being super proud that we survived the first year, and an emotional mess that my baby is a year old! #momotions

1 years old and excited about chocolate chip pancakes

Just don't try and take them away from her...

We celebrated Hadley with chocolate chip pancakes, birthday crowns, sparkles, and lots of pink! Hadley's birthday party is this coming weekend with some of her fellow February birthday friends, so we kept her actual birthday pretty low key, while still making it special! We finished off the weekend with some of Hadley's favorites...bike rides, swinging, and checking out the ocean!

Sadie got in on the playground fun!

We checked out the waves too...you know...just to make sure they are still there ;)

Sunset through the jungle on our way home

We got home, and read Hadley "On the Night You Were Born." I was hoping for a super sentimental book reading session, but Hadley preferred to read "But Not the Hippopotamus" for the 1,000 time. That works too. I did go to lay her down in her crib, and was thrilled that she let me cuddle her extra long! She usually just wants to be laid down, and not snuggled so you better believe I ate up every second of all the delicious baby cuddles I could get! Here is my birthday girl on her last night as an 11 month old!
