Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! This week has flown by, and after such a big week with Jeff being in town we are ready for a low key weekend! But first I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for some Friday Favorites!

MY BABY TURNS 1 IN TWO DAYS!!! If your looking for me I'll be crying in the corner, and trying to speed fill in 11 months worth of milestones into Hadley's baby book.  I seriously can't believe its been a whole year since God blessed us with the greatest gift we could ever think to ask for. I remember Johnathon and I sitting in Hadley's nursery, trying to put together her crib, and imagining what she would be like. Needless to say, she is so much more than anything we could have ever asked or dreamed for and I am so blessed that God chose us to be parents to this beautiful, happy little girl! We are celebrating her birthday in pretty low key fashion this weekend because she is having a joint first birthday party with her friends Aksel and Maya next weekend! I hope you will allow me to indulge in sharing way too many newborn baby photos of Hadley:

My Erin Condren planner and note pad finally came in the mail, and it was like a second Christmas to me!! I've shared my love for these planners  before, but I can't state it enough...these planners are the bomb! They have monthly and weekly calendars, fun colored pens (I have a weird problem where I have to have pens that write a certain way...they have to write smooth and not smudge...these fit the bill) and there are so many fun covers to choose from. This is the first year I've picked a custom cover and I love it! It's probably best you head on over to her website and order yourself one. You won't be sorry!!

So, I'm not gonna lie...I may have dream decorated Hadley's future bedrooms from now until she's eighteen, and pretty much all of my designs are straight outta Pottery Barn (duh). It was during one of my scans of future PBteen bed sheet options, that I stumbled upon the Emily & Meritt  collection. I died. It had such cute stuff, and I'm not too ashamed to admit that I would have ordered half the collection for my personal room if I thought Johnathon would let me. So imagine my surprise and excitement when I found out they now have a line out for Pottery Barn Kids! Asking me to pick my favorites from the collection is like asking me to pick a favorite carb, but here are the standouts that I may need in my life:

I had been wanting this Stella & Dot ID Tag necklace for awhile now, and finally got it as a Christmas present last month. I really wanted some sort of jewelry item that represented Hadley, so I got her birthday engraved on mine. It is the perfect layering necklace and I love wearing it with my Kendra Scott necklace. You can engrave dates, initials, words, you name it, and for a really reasonable price! Here is a picture where you can see both necklaces together:

Have y'all seen this movie?!?! Since we don't live stateside we don't really get to watch movies right when they come out so I have no idea if this is a recent release or not, but oh goodness was it cute! Since it seems like I, along with most of America, have been binge watching Making a Murderer, I figured we could all use a little pick me up after that depressing, anger inducing, blood pressure spiking documentary. Enter Chef. Jeff recommended it to us, and I'm so glad he did. It's a funny, light hearted movie that is as much a father/son story as it is a foodie movie. It left me in such a good mood, and also craving a trip to the food truck park. If you need a good Netflix movie this weeked, watch Chef!

That's it for my Friday Favorites. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. We will be hanging out with our precious baby all weekend, and soaking in her last few days of baby-dom before she becomes a toddler! Hold me! :)

Life Lately/Jeff's Visit Continued...

We are wrapping up Jeff's Week o' Fun here on Kwaj! We have had so much fun having Jeff come and stay with us and I think he had a great time too! Here is the recap of what we've all been up to this week!

Tuesday morning Jeff and Johnathon flew up to Roi so that Jeff could see where Johnathon works, and take the historical tour of Roi. They spent the early morning touring the island and checking out all the neat historical markers that are scattered all over the island.

The Japanese Cemetery on Roi

One of the Japanese bunkers overlooking the occean

There are some Japanese foot prints left in the cement of one of the bunkers...it's amazing how tiny their feet were. You can also tell that they were wearing their traditional Japanese sandals by how the big toe is separated from the rest of the foot

After touring the World War II sites, they toured Johnathon's work:

Hard  hats are a must when visiting Tradex :)

Then Jeff tried chasing the chickens that live outside Tradex

And they finished off the day, by taking in all the natural beauty of Roi...

Personally...this is my favorite palm tree!

Baby black tip sharks feeding in the lagoon

I stayed home while the boys were on Roi, but I was in good company...

Wednesday the boys went fishing again and caught more Mahi and an Aku tuna. They also finished their day of fishing by jumping off a concrete shipwreck that sunk off one of the other islands in the atoll! It looked like so much fun! Johnathon wore his GoPro when he jumped off, so I have a pretty cool video of the guys jumping below:

While the guys were out fishing, and risking life and limb by jumping off a shipwreck, Hadley and I were having our own brand of fun by playing with Aksel and Maya in Maya's water table!

"Mom...stop taking pictures so I can PLAY!!"

headed home after a fun morning with friends
After a full day of fishing poor, exhausted Johnathon had his first inner tube water polo match. He had never played before and he LITERALLY jumped right in! Inner tub water polo is, in my opinion, hands down the most fun of all the Kwaj sports to watch! The hats...people falling out of tubes, the splashing, the hats....IT'S SO SO GOOD. Johnathon is a super athletic guy who is good at most sports, but I'm gonna go ahead and say (and Johnathon would agree) that inner tube water polo may not be the sport where he "shines." However, it was his first game, and I think I convinced him to keep playing, if nothing else, so that Hadley and I can have a source of boundless entertainment one night a week!

And while Johnathon was playing Hadley and I passed the time by trying on the spare polo hats and chasing runaway Cheerios...

Today was Jeff's last full day on Kwaj, and we decided that after all the adventures, Jeff definitely earned himself a chill day! We lounged around the house then biked down to Coral Sands beach for a little family/friend beach day.

We all took a swing on the rope swing...

And did some lounging...

And Miss Hadley Kate decided that she had NO FEAR of the waves, and that going in head first, at full speed was the best way to approach the ocean...

It has been such a great week, and we are so glad that Jeff made the trek out here, and we will be thinking of him on his journey back home!
